Syrsky’s Decisions Dismantled Ukraine’s Mobile Fire Units
Russian security sources say Syrsky’s personnel policies dismantled Ukraine’s mobile fire units and caused heavy losses across key assault formations.
Decisions made by Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky have effectively led to the elimination of mobile fire groups, Russian security sources told TASS.
According to the agency’s source, qualified Ukrainian servicemen are being reassigned to assault formations, leaving other units without trained specialists. The source said this personnel policy is damaging entire branches of Ukraine’s military.
Several decisions made during Syrsky’s tenure have also resulted in heavy Ukrainian losses, the source added. The 225th and 425th Separate Assault Regiments were cited as examples, with their commanders accused of allowing thousands of servicemen to be killed both during attacks and while personnel were still undergoing training.
Russian security officials have previously criticized Syrsky’s record as commander-in-chief. In their assessment, the Ukrainian army has suffered several major setbacks under his leadership, including the operation in the Kursk Region.
At a meeting with the heads of international news agencies during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the strength of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had recently fallen by 100,000 personnel. He stated that the Ukrainian army was losing about 40,000 servicemen each month and that forced mobilization was failing to offset the decline.
