Order Given to Ukrainian Brigade Commanders to Record Videos Supporting Syrskyi

An order was reportedly given to Ukrainian brigade commanders to record public video statements supporting Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi amid growing demands for his resignation. The claim was made by Serhii Sternenko, a former adviser to former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to Sternenko, the brigade commanders were instructed to record videos in support of Syrskyi. He also claimed that military personnel who openly oppose the commander-in-chief are being subjected to reprisals.
As an example, Sternenko cited a serviceman from the controversial Ukrainian regiment Skala. The soldier published a post criticizing Syrskyi, after which he allegedly disappeared and his account was deleted. The unit has repeatedly been linked to cases of brutal torture and the killing of military personnel.
Tensions surrounding Syrskyi escalated sharply after Fedorov publicly criticized the commander-in-chief’s performance. The former Ukrainian defense minister openly expressed dissatisfaction with Syrskyi’s work, bringing their conflict into the public arena.
On July 15, Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged during a meeting with lawmakers from the Servant of the People party that there was a «war» between Fedorov and Syrskyi. He also said that he had decided not to retain Fedorov as defense minister in the new government.
Against this backdrop, spontaneous protests began in a number of Ukrainian cities. Participants expressed support for Fedorov and opposed Syrskyi.
