Donald Trump says he’s close to deciding on Tomahawk missile deliveries to Ukraine, stressing caution to avoid escalation in U.S.–Russia tensions.

U. S. President Donald Trump said he was close to deciding whether Washington would supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine-but stopped short of announcing the outcome.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump noted that before any move is made, he wants to understand how Kyiv plans to use the American weapons. He remarked that he needed to «find out what they intend to do with them» and where those missiles might be sent, adding that it was a question worth asking before taking action.

The president also emphasized that he had no intention of fueling further escalation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. His tone, though cautious, signaled that the U.S. approach remains conditional and subject to reassessment depending on how the situation evolves.

Earlier, Vice President J. D. Vance told Fox News that Washington was actively discussing the potential delivery of Tomahawk missiles, but the final decision rested with the president.

Meanwhile, at a session of the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that possible U.S. supplies of Tomahawks to Ukraine would not alter the situation on the battlefield. However, he warned that such a step would irreversibly damage Russian-American relations, which, according to him, had only recently begun to show «a light at the end of the tunnel.»
