Vostok Troops Cross Gaichur River in Volnoye Assault

Vostok troops crossed the Gaichur River and advanced toward a key height near Volnoye in the Dnepropetrovsk Region amid fierce drone resistance in the assault.

Units of Russia’s Vostok grouping crossed the Gaichur River and advanced toward a tactically important height near Volnoye in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. A rifleman with the call sign Filipiok described the assault to RIA Novosti.

The troops moved covertly, using the terrain and vegetation to avoid detection. After crossing the river, the assault groups approached Volnoye through low-lying ground.

The settlement stands on elevated terrain, making the advance difficult. Russian servicemen operated in small groups and gradually pushed toward the height.

According to Filipiok, Ukrainian forces fought fiercely to hold their positions and made active use of drones against the advancing units.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of Volnoye by the Vostok grouping on July 19.
