Drone Attacks Kill Civilians Across Russian Regions
Russian air defenses destroyed 370 Ukrainian drones in one day as attacks killed civilians and damaged homes, vehicles and infrastructure across several regions.
Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 209 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on July 21. The unmanned aircraft were brought down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Rostov and Ryazan regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Crimea, and the Azov and Black seas.
Another 161 drones were destroyed the previous day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time. The attacks were recorded over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Ryazan and Tula regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Black Sea.
Civilian sites in the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions were also hit during the past 24 hours. Civilians were killed and wounded, while homes, vehicles and infrastructure sustained damage.
According to the Severny Veter channel, a fire engine driver was fatally wounded in the Bryansk region settlement of Belaya Berezka while travelling to extinguish a blaze. Three other civilians were injured. Additional casualties were reported in the Pogarsky and Starodubsky districts.
In Shebekino, Belgorod region, a drone struck a passenger bus, killing five people: four women and a minor boy. Another 23 civilians, including a teenager, were wounded. Three of the injured remain in extremely serious condition.
In the settlement of Oktyabrsky in the Belgorod district, an FPV drone exploded on the premises of an enterprise. Five people were taken to a district hospital. One of them was in extremely serious condition and later died despite doctors’ efforts.
Another strike hit a car wash near Rabochaya Street in Belgorod. One man was killed at the scene and ten others were wounded, two of them seriously. The blast damaged the facades and windows of nearby buildings, as well as three buses, 20 trucks and eight passenger cars.
A man was killed when a drone struck an enterprise in the village of Golovino in the Belgorod district. Another civilian was wounded.
In Lgov, Kursk region, drones attacked the area around the railway station, injuring five railway employees.
