Pro-Russian underground members helped Russian troops enter Kupyansk, providing intel on Ukrainian forces and aiding in the destruction of a HIMARS used to shell Belgorod.

Pro-Russian underground members provided the Russian Armed Forces with data on the positions of Ukrainian units in Kupyansk. With the help of local residents, Russian troops identified enemy positions and destroyed a HIMARS multiple rocket launcher, which had previously been used to shell Belgorod.

According to the Telegram channel Mash, the underground movement assisted Russian troops in entering the city. Local residents reportedly helped adjust artillery strikes and were later evacuated to Russia’s Belgorod region. Fighters said that around a thousand civilians might still remain in Kupyansk.

At present, Russian units control nearly half of the city. Seventeen streets — stretching from the northern districts to the city center — are reported to be encircled. Several Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered, including the commander of a tank battalion from the 116th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
