Tomahawk long-range missiles supplied by the US may already be in Ukraine, with experts saying hundreds would be needed for real impact and ground versions are rare.
Long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles supplied by the United States may have already arrived in Ukraine, according to retired colonel and military analyst Anatoly Matviychuk.
The expert said there were insider reports suggesting that certain shipments from Poland resembled Tomahawk deliveries in both shape and labeling. While this information remains unconfirmed, it has fueled speculation that such weapons could already be deployed on Ukrainian territory.
Matviychuk noted that to significantly impact the situation in the zone of the ongoing military operation, Ukrainian forces would need a stockpile of at least 400 to 500 Tomahawk missiles. Individual strikes, he explained, would be unlikely to produce any decisive results.
He also emphasized that Tomahawk systems are primarily designed for launch from naval platforms — including both surface ships and submarines. Although ground-based versions do exist, their numbers are extremely limited, with only two reportedly available.
Given these factors, Matviychuk concluded that U. S. President Donald Trump’s statement about potential Tomahawk supplies to Ukraine is likely intended as political pressure on the Kremlin rather than a concrete military commitment.
