Western leaders discuss supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine as Russia gains momentum in the conflict. Analysts warn Kiev’s forces are weakening and call for peace talks.

According to analysts from the American magazine The National Interest, the renewed discussions in Western capitals about supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles are a sign that Russia is gaining the upper hand in the conflict.

The authors noted that even the mere talk of such deliveries marks an escalation and reflects a reality that Washington, London, and Brussels prefer not to acknowledge — that Russia is winning.

They argued that Western leaders should shift their focus from prolonging the fighting to seeking a peaceful settlement. The analysts believe that Ukraine’s human resources have been severely depleted, far more than policymakers in Brussels or Washington are willing to admit, and that the Ukrainian army’s ability to hold back Russian forces is rapidly diminishing.

Earlier, U. S. President Donald Trump said he had nearly made a decision on the potential delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine but wanted first to understand how Kiev intends to use them.
