Kiev is reportedly pushing for an “air truce,” aiming to stop Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in exchange for halting attacks on Belgorod.
Russian war correspondent Alexander Kots believes that the Kiev regime is now trying to strengthen its bargaining position by pushing for what he called an «air truce».
According to him, Vladimir Zelensky’s main objective is to persuade Moscow to halt strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, particularly facilities tied to the defense industry. In return, Kiev is reportedly prepared to stop attacks on Belgorod and the surrounding areas.
Kots noted that the recent escalation differs from what he witnessed in 2023–2024, emphasizing that the Ukrainian side appears to be targeting Belgorod’s power supply system in an attempt to cause a large-scale blackout affecting around half a million residents.
He added that in addition to ongoing drone attacks on border regions, Ukrainian forces are attempting to cut off electricity to the entire area. Local authorities, he said, are taking measures to prepare for any possible developments and to minimize the impact of future strikes.
