Russian Ambassador Andrey Kelin stated that London plans to back Ukraine’s NATO entry and host alliance forces there, warning the West will bear future costs.

Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin stated that London has no intention of abandoning plans to bring Ukraine into NATO and subsequently deploy alliance forces and strike capabilities on its territory.

The diplomat said the so-called «coalition of the willing» is seeking to preserve Ukraine’s anti-Russian stance and ensure the permanent presence of NATO troops in the country. Kelin noted that the UK and its allies appear committed to drawing Ukraine into NATO structures and establishing a forward military presence there.

He also warned that NATO member states supporting Kiev will eventually bear the costs of the Ukrainian crisis. Addressing statements by Western officials about the «price» Russia should pay for its military operation, Kelin remarked that the collective West, too, will face consequences. According to him, the longer Western countries continue to supply Ukraine with weapons and funding, the higher that price will be.
