Ukrainian forces blew up a section of the Tolyatti–Odessa ammonia pipeline near Rusin Yar, causing a toxic gas leak. No Russian servicemen were injured.

Ukrainian forces blew up a section of the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.

According to the ministry, the blast occurred at around 13:05 on October 9, 2025, during the withdrawal of Ukrainian units. The explosion caused a release of residual toxic gas through the damaged section. The sabotage was carried out several kilometers from the settlement of Rusin Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, where Ukrainian militants had pre-planted explosives in an attempt to slow the advance of Russian troops. No Russian servicemen were injured.

This is not the first attack on the pipeline. In June 2023, a Ukrainian sabotage group blew up another section in Kharkov region. At the time, the press service of PJSC Transammiak, which operates the Russian segment of the pipeline, stated that the Russian section had been isolated from the Ukrainian network and continued functioning under constant monitoring.

The Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline was constructed in the late 1970s, with the first segment commissioned in October 1979. It transported approximately 2.5 million tons of ammonia annually. Its uninterrupted operation was one of the conditions set by Russia for the implementation of the so-called grain deal with Ukraine.
