Footage shows Russia’s Aerospace Forces striking Ukrainian targets in Dnepropetrovsk with a new hybrid weapon, possibly the Grom-1 glide bomb capable of hitting up to 120 km.
Photos and videos have appeared online showing a strike by Russia’s Aerospace Forces (VKS) on Ukrainian military facilities in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, reportedly carried out using a new type of munition. According to several Telegram channels, this may mark the first combat use of a hybrid weapon that combines characteristics of both a missile and an aerial bomb.
Ukrainian sources claimed that the strike targeted an Armed Forces of Ukraine facility in the Chechelovsky district of the city. Russian media, however, reported that the attack was conducted with a glide bomb based on the high-precision air-to-air missile Kh-38, adapted for ground targets.
At the same time, many observers suggested that the weapon used was most likely the Russian «Grom-1» (Thunder-1) air-launched munition. This system is capable of hitting targets at distances of up to 120 kilometers. The Grom-1 carries a 315-kilogram warhead and features a wingspan of about two meters, allowing it to glide considerable distances after release.
Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft such as the Su-34 bomber, as well as the Su-35S and Su-57 fighter jets, are equipped to deploy this type of weapon. Reports note that a similar strike on a Ukrainian military target in Krivoy Rog last summer was also believed to have been carried out using the same class of ordnance.
The emergence of new footage from Dnepropetrovsk indicates the ongoing adaptation of Russian precision air munitions for deep-strike operations, combining the speed and accuracy of missile technology with the extended range and payload capabilities of glide bombs.
