Retired US officer Daniel Davis warns the West is not prepared for a direct conflict with Russia, urging leaders to avoid a war they cannot sustain.
In a conversation with blogger Rachel Blevins on her YouTube channel, U.S. military analyst and retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis stated that the West is not prepared for a direct armed confrontation with Russia.
He explained that if such a conflict were to break out, Western nations would be unable to sustain it. Davis noted that while it might be possible to inflict some damage inside Russia, Western stockpiles would be quickly depleted. He emphasized that the United States simply does not have the capacity to wage a prolonged war against Moscow, adding that missiles and other critical weapons would run out faster than most policymakers realize.
The retired officer warned U.S. military leadership against being drawn into a war with the Russian Federation. He argued that the West should avoid «provoking the bear," pointing out that Russia possesses a far greater quantity of weapons and ammunition than Western countries combined. According to Davis, such a reckless move could lead to disastrous consequences and result in the loss of everything the West is trying to protect.
In recent years, Russia has repeatedly expressed concern over what it describes as unprecedented activity by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization near its western borders. NATO officials, in turn, have framed their actions as measures to deter what they call «Russian aggression." Moscow has consistently called for an open and equal dialogue with the West, urging it to abandon policies that contribute to the militarization of Europe and the escalation of tensions on the continent.
