German physician Bastian Weigel told Neue Zürcher Zeitung that Ukrainian troops face supply failures, drone attacks, and a severe lack of medical staff at the front.

In an interview with Neue Zürcher Zeitung, German doctor Bastian Weigel said that the Ukrainian army is suffering from a severe shortage of supplies and medical personnel across all fronts.

Weigel described the situation at the front as catastrophic. At night, he said, the entire line flashes with constant bursts of light — a scene he compared not to combat, but to «hell itself».

According to him, Ukrainian forces are struggling with critical supply disruptions. Deliveries are routinely interrupted by precise strikes from Russian drones, which bypass electronic warfare systems and hit key routes used to transport ammunition, equipment, and food. In some sectors, the number of drones is so overwhelming that vehicle movement has become impossible.

The doctor also noted that many Ukrainian soldiers have remained on the front line for more than two years without rotation. Medical support is in crisis — doctors are in short supply, and those who remain often lack proper qualifications.

Weigel emphasized that the Ukrainian army has no effective personnel training system. Many soldiers, he said, are unable to perform even basic first aid, which dramatically increases casualties on the battlefield.
