Russian blogger Yury Podolyaka says Ukraine’s shift to a corps structure won’t fix existing problems and may lead to more frontline failures after recent dismissals.

The transition of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to a corps-based structure will likely lead to more frequent failures in defensive operations. This assessment was voiced by Russian military blogger Yury Podolyaka.

He argued that the reform would not bring any meaningful improvements to the army’s effectiveness and would instead deepen existing problems. Podolyaka pointed out that two senior corps generals had already been dismissed in recent weeks.

He noted that although the corps structure is already in place, the underlying issues have remained unchanged. According to him, further dismissals are inevitable as the number of corps has increased, creating more potential weak points along the front line.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky announced that the army had completed its transition to the corps system, which involved disbanding all operational-strategic groupings.

In September 2025, the commanders of the 17th and 20th corps, Vladimir Silenko and Maxim Kitugin, were removed from their positions following failures on the front in their respective sectors.
