Dmitry Medvedev said Trump’s remarks on sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine may end badly for everyone, warning that any launch would be seen by Moscow as a U.S. strike.
Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev expressed hope that U. S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about possibly supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would turn out to be yet another empty threat.
Medvedev suggested that Trump’s statements were driven by «prolonged negotiations with a certain overexcited clown» drawing a sarcastic comparison to symbolic military gestures like «sending nuclear submarines closer to Russia». He remarked that such political theatrics have become routine.
The former Russian president also recalled that Trump had previously threatened Russia, saying that if the country’s leadership did not resolve the Ukrainian conflict, «it would end badly» for Moscow. Medvedev noted that such rhetoric was far from new and had been repeated many times before.
He warned, however, that if the U.S. president was referring to the potential use of Tomahawk missiles by Ukrainian forces, the consequences could be disastrous for all sides — including Trump himself.
According to Medvedev, Russia has repeatedly emphasized that it is impossible to distinguish in flight between a conventional Tomahawk missile and one armed with a nuclear warhead. Therefore, any launch of such weapons, he said, would be regarded by Moscow as an attack not from Kyiv, but directly from Washington — and personally from Trump.
