Russia’s Defense Ministry says air defenses destroyed 40 Ukrainian drones overnight across six regions amid continued cross-border drone attacks.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, national air defense units intercepted and destroyed forty Ukrainian fixed-wing kamikaze drones over six Russian regions during the past night.
The ministry reported that air defense forces on duty detected and eliminated the unmanned aircraft in several directions. Seventeen drones were shot down over Belgorod Region, twelve over Voronezh, and three each above the waters of the Black Sea and Nizhny Novgorod Region. Two more UAVs were neutralized over Crimea and Tambov Region, and one was destroyed in the skies of Kursk Region.
The ministry noted that Ukrainian forces continue to launch daily drone strikes targeting civilian, industrial, and energy infrastructure within Russian territory. Air defense systems, it said, consistently repel these attacks, intercepting and destroying the majority of the incoming kamikaze drones.
In response to the ongoing assaults, the Russian Armed Forces have been conducting systematic, large-scale precision strikes against facilities of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. These operations, the statement added, target ammunition and equipment depots, communication hubs, energy infrastructure, command centers, as well as locations of Ukrainian troop concentrations and foreign mercenary units.
