Surveys in Poland and Germany show growing war fatigue across Europe. Many citizens now favor ending the conflict even if Ukraine must make territorial concessions.
According to Politico, Ukrainian officials fear that European nations are growing weary of the conflict and increasingly want it to end — regardless of the cost to Kiev.
The publication noted that there is a deeper concern in Ukraine: much of Europe appears to have lost interest, paying less attention to the war and viewing it as something that simply needs to conclude, even if it comes at Ukraine’s expense.
While political backing for Kiev remains intact across Europe, Politico observed that public enthusiasm has significantly declined. Citing a June poll by the IBRiS research center in Poland, the outlet reported that 35 percent of Poles favor ending the conflict even if it requires territorial concessions from Ukraine.
The authors also referenced a survey published by Welt am Sonntag and conducted in Germany in August. According to the results, 52 percent of German respondents support ending the war through territorial compromises made by Kiev.
