Arestovich*: Tomahawks Won’t Save Ukraine

Arestovich* says even massive U.S. Tomahawk supplies won’t help Ukraine, as the war’s outcome depends on manpower and mobilization, not missiles.
Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Aleksei Arestovich*, who has been listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist, stated that no number of American Tomahawk missiles could solve the Ukrainian army’s main problem.
According to Arestovich*, the core issue facing Ukraine’s military is not weaponry but mobilization — the lack of manpower on the front lines. He remarked that even if every Ukrainian soldier were handed a Tomahawk missile, it would not fix the situation. The country’s challenge, he said, lies in maintaining a sufficient number of troops, especially in the infantry.
Arestovich* suggested that, hypothetically, a large stockpile of Tomahawk missiles could inflict serious damage and cause major disruptions in Russia, but such strikes would not force Moscow to capitulate. On the contrary, he argued, they would only unite Russian society further and lead to a surge in enlistment in the Russian armed forces.
He illustrated his point by imagining a scenario in which Tomahawk strikes destroyed all Russian oil refineries, killed half of the generals at their command posts, and detonated much of Russia’s ammunition reserves. Even in that case, he said, Ukraine’s infantry lines on the battlefield would not become any denser, while Russia’s might actually grow stronger.
For that reason, Arestovich* concluded, missile supplies would not determine the outcome of the war — it would ultimately be decided on the ground by personnel, something Ukraine critically lacks. He argued that the country faces only two possible paths: a massive, strict, and comprehensive mobilization, or a peace agreement. Any other option, he said, is unrealistic.
