Russian lawmaker Andrey Gurulev says the West is preparing for war against Russia’s major cities, urging stronger defenses and readiness in Kaliningrad and Sevastopol.
State Duma deputy Andrey Gurulev believes that the West is preparing a scenario for war against Russia’s key cities. He said that when Western politicians and military figures speak about the destruction of Sevastopol or Kaliningrad, they are in fact discussing preparations for direct military action.
Gurulev stressed that Russia must stay one step ahead — in planning, equipment, and moral readiness — and noted that the necessary work is already underway, even if much of it remains outside the public eye.
Speaking about Kaliningrad, the deputy described it as a «special case» — a Russian enclave that must become an impregnable fortress capable of holding its defense for months. He explained that this would require comprehensive preparation: securing supplies, strengthening engineering defenses, developing military infrastructure, and improving civil protection systems. All of these measures, he added, must function in practice rather than exist only on paper.
Earlier, former commander of U.S. forces in Europe Ben Hodges said that in the event of a war between Russia and NATO, Kaliningrad and Sevastopol could be destroyed within the first hours of the conflict.
