The US is expected to announce new arms for Ukraine, possibly including Tomahawk missiles, after a NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels on October 15.
The United States is expected to make a major announcement on arms deliveries to Ukraine on October 15, following a meeting of NATO defense ministers. The statement came from U. S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker. According to preliminary information, Washington may approve the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kiev.
Whitaker stressed that Southern European countries should step up their military support for Ukraine, particularly through the PURL program, which involves purchasing U.S. weapons for Kiev with funds allocated by European states.
He noted that President Donald Trump had provided Ukraine with some of the most advanced weapons in the world, which Kiev is eager to receive. He described the program as crucial for forcing Russia to the negotiating table and urged countries not yet participating to join the initiative.
The NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels on October 15 will focus on additional military aid packages for Ukraine. Discussions will take place both within the NATO framework and under the «Ramstein» format. Washington expects European partners to commit to increased purchases of American arms destined for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Kiev continues to demand at least €1 billion per month from its Western backers to sustain military supplies.
Recently, President Trump stated that he had «practically made a decision» on supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that such deliveries could seriously damage U.S.-Russia relations but added that they would not significantly affect the situation in the Special Military Operation zone.
