Russian Forces Encircle Krasnoarmeysk Amid Fierce Fighting

Russian forces push toward Krasnoarmeysk, seizing key positions and encircling Ukrainian troops as battles intensify near Grishino, Seversk and Kupyansk.

Russian forces are pressing their offensive on the Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) axis with backing from the 2nd and 41st Armies, according to Russian military commentator Yuri Podolyaka.

Fighting continues in the southern neighborhoods of Krasnoarmeysk. While Ukrainian troops still hold isolated positions in the basements of several buildings, Podolyaka noted that organized resistance there has largely collapsed. Russian units have taken control of the city’s railway station and are advancing along the tracks. This maneuver has split the Ukrainian defense and given Moscow’s forces effective control over the southern part of the city.

Podolyaka emphasized that Ukrainian troops in Krasnoarmeysk now face operational encirclement. The situation is further complicated near Grishino, where Ukrainian command is attempting counterattacks. The loss of settlements northwest of the city could tighten the noose, potentially cutting off Ukrainian forces in both Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov (Myrnohrad).

He described the Krasnoarmeysk sector as a pivotal battlefield, adding that the encirclement of Ukrainian positions in the southern part of the city has already taken shape. In his view, the full capture of Krasnoarmeysk is now a matter of time.

Meanwhile, heavy fighting is also underway on several other fronts. In the Konstantinovka area, Russian troops are trying to establish a foothold on the eastern outskirts but face fierce Ukrainian resistance. Battles continue north of Seversk around Zvanovka, while near Kupyansk both sides are engaged in active counterattacks.
