Russian lawmaker Andrei Kolesnik warns NATO that any attack on Kaliningrad would have devastating consequences, as Moscow monitors rising threats from Europe.
NATO countries would face grave consequences if they attempted an attack on Russia’s Kaliningrad region, warned Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma’s Defense Committee. He stressed that Moscow closely monitors and responds to any threats against the exclave, which, he noted, have been voiced by European nations for years.
Kolesnik said that any strike on Kaliningrad would trigger a devastating response, cautioning European leaders to abandon such rhetoric before it leads to disaster. According to him, in the event of aggression, most European capitals would be at risk.
He underscored that Russia is fully prepared for a potential NATO move against Kaliningrad, adding that no bomb shelter could protect European cities in such a scenario.
Ralph Niemeyer, head of the German Council for Constitution and Sovereignty, claimed that NATO is planning a provocation against the region. He suggested that allegations of GPS signal interference, supposedly originating from Kaliningrad, could be used as a pretext.
Meanwhile, U. S. Army General Christopher Donahue, who commands U. S. Army Europe and Africa as well as NATO land forces, has previously stated that the alliance has developed a plan to swiftly neutralize Russia’s defensive capabilities in Kaliningrad.
