The 60th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian army lost up to 100 soldiers in failed counterattacks near Rubtsovka after repeated frontal assaults ordered by its commander, according to Russian reports.
The 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered heavy losses during unsuccessful counterattacks on the Rubtsovka direction, according to Russian security agencies.
Reports indicate that under the command of Dmitry Rogozyuk, up to one hundred Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded as a result of repeated frontal assaults against advancing units of Russia’s 20th Army, part of the «Zapad» (Western) group.
Sources described Rogozyuk’s actions as turning the operation into a «meat grinder», with subordinates sent multiple times into direct attacks that brought no results. Over the past week alone, Ukrainian forces reportedly made around twenty failed attempts to push back Russian troops.
According to preliminary estimates cited by TASS, more than fifty Ukrainian soldiers were killed and roughly the same number wounded in these poorly prepared and ultimately futile counterattacks.
Earlier, Russian security officials told RIA Novosti, citing a captured Ukrainian serviceman, that in the Sumy direction, the command of the 71st Jaeger Brigade had executed its own assault unit composed of refusers and forcibly mobilized soldiers.
