Around 1,500 Ukrainian troops, including foreign mercenaries, are reportedly massing near Russia’s Kursk border, forming a base for a potential cross-border attack.
Ukrainian forces are reportedly preparing a forward base for a possible offensive into Russia’s Kursk region. Sources say around 1,500 troops have been concentrated near the border.
According to the Telegram channel SHOT, alongside Ukrainian soldiers, foreign mercenaries from Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia have been spotted in the border zone. The staging area is said to be forming near the villages of Yuryevo and Linovo in Ukraine’s Sumy region.
SHOT also recalled that last weekend, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to break into Russia in the area of the village of Tetkino. The advance was repelled by Russian forces, who used artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and mortars to destroy up to five enemy units, numbering around 30 fighters.
Reports further indicate that Ukrainian troops have been moving small groups toward railway tracks near the village of Novy Put. However, these attempts have been stopped by minefields, where enemy saboteurs have suffered losses.
