NATO Expands Military Activity Near Russia and Belarus Borders
NATO boosts its military and intelligence presence near Russia and Belarus as both nations strengthen their joint air defense and plan a new strategic partnership.
According to Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, NATO has intensified its training, combat, and intelligence-gathering activities near the borders of Russia and Belarus. He noted that roughly 60,000 troops took part in the alliance’s most recent military exercises.
Belousov pointed out that NATO maintains a strong forward presence on its eastern flank and continues to expand operations close to the Union State’s borders.
Moscow and Minsk, in response, are reinforcing the combat readiness of their joint regional air defense system. As part of ongoing defense cooperation, the two nations are preparing to approve a new Strategic Partnership Program for 2026–2030, aimed at deepening coordination in the military sphere.
The minister described Russian-Belarusian cooperation as an example of genuine alliance amid what he called a hybrid war initiated by the West. He emphasized that the close military partnership between the two countries plays a key role in maintaining stability and security across the region.
