The U.S. confirmed that Western allies will supply Ukraine with new “firepower”, while Tomahawk missiles remain off the NATO agenda. $2 billion in aid is already allocated.
Ukraine is set to receive what Washington describes as «firepower» from its Western allies. U. S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made the announcement but stopped short of clarifying whether Tomahawk missiles were part of the package, CNN reported.
Hegseth emphasized that European commitments to purchase American weapons for Ukraine may soon turn into tangible new capabilities for the country’s armed forces. While his statement drew attention, he offered no specifics on the nature or scale of the expected deliveries.
CNN noted that the supply of Tomahawk missiles — a topic often central in discussions about strengthening Ukraine’s defenses — is not on the agenda for the upcoming meeting of NATO defense ministers. The gathering in Brussels is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15.
The network also reminded that under the initiative known as the «Priority Ukraine Requirements List» (PURL), European countries have already allocated $2 billion for the purchase of military equipment destined for Ukraine.
