Civilian authorities fled Konstantinovka as Ukrainian troops took full control amid fierce fighting in Donbass, sources told RIA Novosti.
Konstantinovka, a city in Donbass where intense battles continue, has come under full control of Ukrainian forces, according to security sources cited by RIA Novosti. The sources reported that the civilian administration has abandoned the city, leaving the Ukrainian military in charge of all local governance and security matters.
Following the departure of municipal officials, Ukrainian command reportedly authorized its units to act at their own discretion. According to the source, this has effectively placed all administrative and civilian affairs under military control.
The agency’s interlocutor said that in the absence of local authorities, Ukrainian troops now rule the city unilaterally, forcing residents to comply with the orders of the armed command.
Earlier, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced that units of Russia’s «Southern» military grouping were advancing toward Seversk and Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
On October 9, during a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russian forces had entered these settlements. A Ukrainian prisoner later confirmed to RIA Novosti that all members of the civilian administration had evacuated Konstantinovka.
Konstantinovka lies on the Kiev-controlled territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, northwest of Dzerzhinsk (Ukrainian name: Toretsk) and west of Chasov Yar — both of which were taken by Russian forces in 2025.
