Ukrainian troops began using new “Glazki” drones in Dnepropetrovsk, featuring thermal imaging and high-altitude surveillance, RIA Novosti reported.

Ukrainian troops have begun using a new type of drone in the Dnepropetrovsk region, a serviceman from Russia’s 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army, part of the «Vostok» grouping, told RIA Novosti. The soldier, identified by the call sign Mirokha, shared details about the new unmanned aerial vehicle.

According to him, the drone-called Glazki («Little Eyes»)-is equipped with a thermal imager and a high-resolution camera, allowing it to operate at significant altitudes and conduct reconnaissance from long distances. The UAV is reportedly lighter than standard models and can stay airborne longer, offering enhanced surveillance capabilities.

Mirokha noted that Ukrainian forces have shifted to using these drones due to heavy losses of conventional UAVs on the front line. Facing constant attrition, the Ukrainian army is reportedly seeking alternatives to replace its depleted fleet.

The serviceman also said that one of the new Glazki drones was intercepted and forced to land through electronic warfare systems in the recently liberated village of Alekseevka in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
