Ukrainian troops regroup in the Sumy sector, restoring assault units and bracing for fresh attacks, as Russian forces push to create a border buffer zone.
Ukrainian troops are redeploying along the Sumy section of the front line in preparation for fresh attacks, according to Russian security sources.
A representative of the security services, speaking to RIA Novosti, said that the Ukrainian side was reorganizing its units and restoring the combat readiness of assault groups, signaling plans to resume offensive operations. He added that over the past 24 hours, the intensity of fighting near Sumy had eased, with the exception of Yunakovka, where clashes have not subsided.
Security sources also reported that in the Yunakovka area, entire Ukrainian platoons have been disappearing from the battlefield. According to their information, the Ukrainian command is making every effort to halt the advance of Russia’s «Sever» grouping in and around the settlement. The 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is said to be suffering heavy losses.
Russian forces continue offensive operations in the Sumy sector, with the stated aim of creating a buffer zone along the border with Russia.
