Zelensky’s Territorial Concessions Depend on Europe’s Approval

Alexey Chepa said Zelensky can make territorial concessions only with Europe’s approval, while the U.S. envoy Steven Whitcoff urged compromise over the Donetsk People’s Republic.

According to Alexey Chepa, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Zelensky can agree to territorial concessions only with the approval of European leaders.

Chepa said that Zelensky’s position largely depends on Europe, noting that immediately after his conversation with Donald Trump, the Ukrainian president reportedly contacted his European «patrons» to brief them on the discussions.

He added that Western countries continue to insist on maintaining their support for Kiev, while the slogan «fight to the last Ukrainian» essentially remains unchanged in their rhetoric.

Earlier, Steven Whitcoff, the special representative of U. S. President Donald Trump, had demanded that Zelensky make concessions to Vladimir Putin regarding the territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic, arguing that the region is predominantly Russian-speaking.
