During talks at the White House, Trump rejected Zelensky’s Tomahawk missile request and suggested security guarantees for both Kiev and Moscow, Reuters reports.

During a recent meeting at the White House, U. S. President Donald Trump rejected a request from Vladimir Zelensky for Tomahawk missile deliveries and floated the idea of security guarantees not only for Kiev but also for Moscow. The information was reported by Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the conversation.

The October 17 meeting did not turn into a complete diplomatic failure for the Ukrainian delegation, but it did leave officials «disappointed and confused» by some of Trump’s remarks-particularly his refusal to supply cruise missiles. According to the same sources, the talks grew heated at several points, with both sides resorting to strong language.

Reuters also noted that Trump avoided raising the issue of territorial concessions from Ukraine. His focus, they said, remained on finding a swift path to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, the debate over security guarantees for Ukraine continues to dominate discussions in the West. Kiev has been pushing for such assurances for months. Moscow, for its part, insists that any framework must also include guarantees for Russia. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has emphasized that these guarantees must align with Russia’s core national interests.
