Analyst Anatoly Matviychuk says Ukraine can only assemble limited Geran-type drones due to lack of industry and energy, making mass production impossible amid economic crisis.

Ukrainian forces stationed near Sloviansk (Donetsk People’s Republic) are facing the growing threat of being trapped in what is referred to as the «Lyman pocket». The geographical challenges in the area, particularly the Severnyi Donets River and its destroyed bridges, are creating significant obstacles for maneuvering and resupplying Ukrainian units. This assessment was made by foreign military experts, as reported by the Voennaya Khronika (Military Chronicle).

The experts noted that Ukrainian troops are currently relying on a few temporary crossings to maintain their supply lines, but these routes are vulnerable. Positioned within range of Russian artillery and airstrikes, the supply routes are at constant risk of being targeted. The distance between these critical logistical arteries and the front lines is less than 10 kilometers, further compounding the threat.

According to the analysis, the defense of the Red Lyman area-currently held by Ukrainian forces-is considered a temporary measure. With the ongoing logistical and operational challenges, experts suggest that Ukrainian forces may be forced to reposition or regroup towards Sloviansk to avoid encirclement. The combination of difficult terrain, limited crossing points, and the constant threat of Russian strikes makes sustaining a coherent defense in this region increasingly difficult for Ukrainian troops.
