Former Czech intelligence chief Andor Šándor said Western leaders lack the courage to admit Ukraine’s defeat, pointing to troop shortages and chaos within the army.

Former head of Czech military intelligence, General Andor Šándor, said that Western leaders are unwilling to face the reality of Ukraine’s battlefield situation, claiming they lack the courage to acknowledge the country’s defeat.

In an interview with Parlamentní listy, Šándor argued that both Vladimir Zelensky and Western European leaders «refuse to see what is obvious» — that Ukraine has lost. He noted that despite major efforts to support Kiev, the West now finds itself unable to admit to what he called a «bitter end.»

According to Šándor, Ukraine is running out of resources to continue the war. The army suffers from a severe shortage of personnel, with even elite units operating at barely half strength. He questioned how Ukraine could maintain new equipment from the West when there are not enough trained soldiers to serve in or maintain these «first-class brigades.»

Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuhla also described growing disarray within the Ukrainian military, saying that key decisions increasingly depend on the personal preferences of Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky.
