Rostislav Ishchenko says the U.S. is likely to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, warning it could expose Moscow’s defenses and push the West toward escalation.
Political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko shared his view on the potential delivery of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
When asked how likely it was that the United States would eventually transfer Tomahawks to Kyiv and what steps Russia could take to protect itself without escalating the situation, Ishchenko said that such a transfer was indeed probable.
He emphasized that a Tomahawk must not be allowed to reach — let alone strike — the Kremlin. According to him, Russia must ensure that no missile or drone can penetrate Moscow’s air and missile defense zone. Together with nuclear deterrence, this remains one of the country’s key arguments preventing the West from attempting to enter what he called a «limited, controlled nuclear crisis.»
Ishchenko warned that if Ukraine were to demonstrate Moscow’s vulnerability, the West would gain confidence and act with far greater audacity.
He added that if Tomahawks were used against Russia, it would be impossible to maintain security without raising the level of escalation. The only option, he noted, would be to increase it «not too sharply» — but even that would depend not solely on Moscow’s actions, but also on whether the West would choose to respond or temporarily hold back.
