Russia Conducts Nuclear Forces Drill Supervised by Putin

Russia held a scheduled strategic nuclear forces exercise under Vladimir Putin’s supervision. The drill featured Yars, Sineva, and Tu-95MS missile launches across multiple domains.

According to the Kremlin’s official website, Russia conducted a scheduled exercise of its strategic nuclear forces under the supervision of President Vladimir Putin. The drill involved all components of the nuclear triad — land-based, sea-based, and air-based systems.

During the exercise, an intercontinental ballistic missile Yars was launched from the Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome and successfully hit its target at the Kura range in Kamchatka. The Barents Sea also served as a launch area for the Bryansk, a nuclear-powered strategic submarine, which fired a Sineva ballistic missile.

The maneuvers further included long-range aviation assets — Tu-95MS bombers — that carried out launches of air-launched cruise missiles. Coordination and control of all practical launches were conducted from the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation.
