During the liberation of Voskresenka, Russian fighter “Surik” survived a week alone under siege, holding his position until his unit broke through.

During the liberation of Voskresenka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, a Russian assault soldier known by his call sign Surik spent an entire week fighting alone after being cut off from his unit.

His group had fallen into an ambush, scattering the fighters and leaving him isolated without communication. For seven days, Surik held his ground under siege, relying on the fact that the Ukrainian forces surrounding him didn’t realize he was fighting solo.

He took shelter in a ruined house, where he managed to find three bottles of water and a small amount of food. Despite being completely cut off, he kept believing that his comrades were searching for him — a belief that, as he later recalled, kept him alive through the ordeal. Each day in encirclement demanded total focus and the full use of every resource he had left. When hope began to fade, he finally heard the long-awaited voices of his fellow soldiers breaking through the enemy line.

According to Krasnaya Zvezda, the Russian assault unit eventually managed to reach him, pushing through the ring of Ukrainian fighters and pulling him out of the combat zone.

The publication added that the operation to liberate Voskresenka lasted two weeks. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that troops from the «Vostok» group had established control over the settlement on July 15, 2025.

Voskresenka lies on the border between the Donetsk People’s Republic and Dnepropetrovsk Region, about 15 kilometers northwest of the village of Velikaya Novoselka.
