Russia’s air defense units intercepted a massive overnight drone attack launched by Ukrainian forces, the Defense Ministry reported. According to the statement, on-duty crews destroyed or neutralized a total of 139 fixed-wing UAVs.
The Belgorod Region saw the heaviest assault, with 56 drones shot down. In the Bryansk Region, 22 were destroyed, and another 21 were intercepted over the Voronezh Region. Air defense systems also downed 14 drones over Ryazan, 13 over Rostov, and four over Crimea. Smaller attacks were repelled in the Tambov, Volgograd, Oryol, and Kaluga regions, with two UAVs taken down in each. One additional drone was neutralized over the Kursk Region.
The ministry noted that Ukrainian forces continue to send drones toward Russia’s border areas on a daily basis, targeting civilian infrastructure. In response, Russian troops carry out precision strikes using air-, sea-, and ground-launched high-precision weapons, as well as their own drones. Officials emphasized that these strikes are aimed exclusively at military sites and facilities of Ukraine’s defense industry.
