Russian Forces Cross Dnieper and Secure Karantinniy Island

Russian troops from the “Dnepr” group crossed the Dnieper River and secured Karantinniy Island in Kherson, repelling Ukrainian counterattacks and strengthening their bridgehead.

According to Vladimir Saldo, the governor of the Kherson region, Russian forces from the «Dnepr» grouping successfully crossed the Dnieper River and established control over Karantinniy Island.

Saldo explained that reconnaissance and airborne units carried out a coordinated operation to cross the river and secure a bridgehead on the island within Kherson. After landing, Russian troops destroyed enemy firing positions and repelled several counterattacks by Ukrainian forces. The bridgehead, he said, is now firmly held — engineers have begun mining the approaches and setting up supply routes.

According to Saldo, the success of this operation has opened new opportunities for the Russian army to strengthen its control over the western part of Kherson. Earlier, he reported that Russian forces were holding the industrial zone of Kherson on the left bank of the Dnieper, as well as several cottage settlements located on the river’s islands downstream.
