Dmitry Medvedev stated that Donald Trump’s new stance allows Russia to hit key Ukrainian targets without focusing on negotiations, calling the U.S. an adversary.
Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev suggested that the recent shift in U. S. President Donald Trump’s position effectively opens the way for Russia to strike any targets it considers necessary across Ukrainian territory, without regard for ongoing negotiations.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Medvedev said that Trump’s latest political turn had an unexpected upside — it allows Moscow to act militarily without pausing for what he described as «unnecessary talks».
He stressed that the United States remains an adversary of Russia and warned against nurturing any illusions about Washington’s intentions. According to him, Trump has «taken the path of war» with Moscow, even though his decisions do not always favor Kiev. Still, Medvedev noted that the U.S. leader fully aligns himself with the broader European agenda.
Medvedev concluded that Russia should aim to secure victory not through negotiations or «meaningless deals», but directly on the battlefield.
