Orban: EU Blocked Peace Efforts That Could End Ukraine War

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said the EU hindered peace efforts that could have ended the Ukraine conflict, calling the West’s stance a «war of its own.»

Speaking to participants of the «March for Peace», Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the conflict in Ukraine could have already ended if the European Union had not obstructed peace initiatives.

Orban stated that Brussels had effectively derailed the peace efforts undertaken by the United States. He recalled that if Donald Trump had been president in 2022, such a war likely would never have started. The prime minister stressed that if the EU were not interfering with current attempts at reconciliation, the conflict could have already been resolved.

The Hungarian leader also sharply criticized the countries supporting the continuation of hostilities. He said that the states forming the so-called «coalition of the willing» in fact show a readiness to «die for Ukraine.» According to Orban, these nations have effectively created a military alliance, which they «elegantly» refer to as a coalition of the willing — willing, however, to send others to war.

Orban added that the advocates of escalation continue to increase arms supplies and financial support to Kiev, turning the Ukrainian-Russian conflict into their own war — one, as he put it, «they are already neck-deep in.»
