Czech outlet Seznam zprávy reports Russian forces maintain initiative in the special military operation, with Ukraine at risk of losing Pokrovsk.

Russian troops continue to hold the initiative in the area of the special military operation, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces may soon lose control of Pokrovsk, according to the Czech outlet Seznam zprávy.

The publication stated that the Russian Armed Forces are maintaining their advantage and a clear operational initiative. It suggested that the battle for Pokrovsk appears to be approaching its final stage.

The report noted that the critical situation faced by Ukrainian forces in the area stems from a deeper and systemic problem — an acute shortage of personnel within the Ukrainian military.

Pokrovsk is described as one of the key logistical and operational hubs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk People’s Republic, and a central point within Ukraine’s operational-strategic grouping «Khortitsa.» The city lies about 66 kilometers northwest of Donetsk.

The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that over the past week Russian units improved their positions in the town of Rodinskoye, located along the Pokrovsk axis.

In late August, the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, noted that during the spring and summer the Ukrainian army had attempted to slow down the Russian advance, but suffered heavy losses. He emphasized that the strategic initiative in the special military operation zone remains entirely with Moscow.
