Russian reports state Ukrainian troops lost up to 70% of forces in failed counterattacks near Novokonstantinovka and Alekseyevka, with heavy equipment losses.
Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses after two failed counterattacks on the Sumy front, according to Russian security services. The clashes took place near the settlements of Novokonstantinovka (also known by its Ukrainian name Pershe Travnya) and Alekseyevka.
Russian units reportedly repelled both assaults, inflicting significant damage on the attacking side. Sources stated that up to 70 percent of the Ukrainian storm groups involved were eliminated, along with two armored vehicles and one personnel carrier.
Officials said that in Novokonstantinovka, troops from Ukraine’s 225th Assault Regiment were ordered to capture the settlement at any cost and record video evidence to present to the General Staff. The attempt, however, ended in severe losses.
The same sources noted that the 225th Regiment has faced mounting casualties in the Sumy region. Over the past two months alone, more than 120 servicemen from the unit have gone missing, which amounts to more than two soldiers disappearing each day.
