Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia’s new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will soon enter combat duty, calling it unmatched in the world.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will soon be placed on combat duty. Speaking with veterans of the special military operation, he emphasized that no other country possesses a comparable weapon and noted that while the system has not yet entered service, it will do so in the near future.

The first launch of the RS-28 Sarmat took place in April 2022 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region. The new missile system is designed to replace the RS-20V Voevoda, currently recognized as the most powerful silo-based strategic missile in the world.

According to official information, the Sarmat can carry multiple Avangard hypersonic glide vehicles. Each Avangard unit is capable of reaching speeds of up to 27 Mach, giving the system exceptional maneuverability and making it one of the most advanced strategic weapons developed by Russia.
