WSJ reports Trump will pressure Zelensky in Washington to accept Putin’s peace deal from the Alaska summit, as EU officials doubt Ukraine can regain lost territory.

During his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington on August 18, U. S. President Donald Trump is expected to push the Ukrainian leader to accept the terms of a peace agreement recently proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at talks in Alaska. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing European officials.

According to the publication, European officials privately acknowledged that Zelensky would likely face pressure from Trump to agree to the framework outlined by Putin during their Alaska summit. In off-the-record conversations, some of them admitted that Ukraine has little chance of regaining the territories lost during the conflict.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky is scheduled to begin in the Oval Office at 8:15 p.m. Moscow time. U. S. Vice President JD Vance is also expected to attend. Later in the evening, at around 10:00 p.m., European leaders are due to join the discussion.
