The Financial Times reports that the EU and NATO are preparing logistics plans for a potential conflict with Russia, including shared use of trucks, railcars, and ferries.

According to a report by The Financial Times, the European Commission and member states of the North Atlantic Alliance are preparing logistics plans in the event of a potential conflict with Russia. Citing a senior official, the newspaper said discussions are underway on how to coordinate the shared use of transportation assets capable of moving heavy military equipment during wartime.

The source explained that the European Commission, in cooperation with national governments and NATO, is working on a system that would allow for the joint use of trucks, railcars, and ferries capable of transporting tanks and heavy artillery across the continent.

The report added that next month the European Commission is expected to unveil new proposals aimed at modernizing transport infrastructure and simplifying customs procedures within the European Union.

According to the publication’s sources, the idea of creating a dedicated EU fleet of trucks and railway cars is also being considered, though such a plan could face difficulties due to budgetary constraints. For now, the project remains in its early stages and may undergo significant changes as discussions continue.
