Ukraine deploys all reserves for a critical counterattack near Yunakovka, Sumy region, aiming to reclaim key positions from Russian troops close to the border.
Ukrainian command has reportedly mobilized all available reserves to launch a counterattack on the flanks of Russian forces near the village of Yunakovka in the Sumy region. This information comes from an unnamed source within Russian security agencies, as reported by Russian media.
According to the source, the Ukrainian side is throwing all its resources into the fight, regardless of losses, aiming to outflank the Russian «North» grouping positioned around Yunakovka. The operational-tactical group «Sumy» has been tasked, under direct orders from Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, with quickly regaining lost ground in the area.
In addition to the concentrated effort in Yunakovka, there have been reported counterattacks by the 225th Separate Assault Regiment near Stepove and the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade around Varachyne.
Yunakovka itself lies just five kilometers from the Russian border. It previously served as a vital logistics hub and supply point for Ukrainian forces, acting as a heavily fortified position before the regional center, the city of Sumy.
While there has been no official confirmation that Russian forces have taken full control of Yunakovka, war correspondents indicate that most of the village is now under Russian control. Ukrainian troops, however, continue to mount active efforts to reclaim the lost territory.
