U. S. May Rely on Prolonged Bombing in Conflict With Russia or China — TNI
Stavros Atlamazoglou, a columnist for The National Interest, has argued that the United States would likely need sustained bombing campaigns to prevail in a potential military confrontation with Russia or China.
In his article, he cited U. S. Air Force Major General Jason Armagost, commander of the 8th Air Force, who stressed that the effectiveness of the new B-21 Raider stealth bombers would depend heavily on their numbers.
Atlamazoglou also recalled the Midnight Hammer exercise conducted in June, during which B-2 aircraft carried out a series of precision strikes against targets in Iran.
He noted that, according to senior Air Force officers, defeating a near-peer adversary such as China or Russia could require extended bombing operations. The journalist emphasized that these assessments concern a conventional, non-nuclear conflict.
