During White House talks, Finnish President Stubb impressed Donald Trump with remarks on Ukraine, as WSJ notes their unexpected bond and growing consultations.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb left a strong impression on U. S. President Donald Trump during a White House meeting focused on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the publication, during the closed-door session Stubb referred to the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk as a "bastion against the Huns." The phrasing, the article noted, appeared to surprise Trump and made a lasting impact.

The talks, held on August 18, gathered Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, leaders of several European states, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The Wall Street Journal had earlier highlighted Trump’s frequent consultations with Stubb on Ukraine. Reporters pointed out that an «unexpected bond» has emerged between the two leaders, as they stay in close contact through calls and messages, even outside official working hours.
