Russian Forces Push Toward Zaporozhye as Frontline Success Grows

Military expert says Russian troops are achieving steady gains near Orekhov and Pavlograd, aiming to break Ukrainian defenses and advance toward Zaporozhye amid ongoing battles.

According to military expert and retired naval captain Vasily Dandykin, the success of Russian forces at the junction of the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions is already evident.

He noted that one of the key objectives for the Russian army remains breaking through the Ukrainian fortified area near Orekhov and advancing toward Zaporozhye. Another important direction of the offensive, he said, is Pavlograd — a major industrial and logistical hub supporting Ukrainian forces.

Dandykin added that while Ukrainian drones pose challenges, countermeasures are gradually being developed. He expressed confidence that Russian forces are preparing further moves, suggesting that «new surprises» may still lie ahead.

The expert also believes that despite the transfer of reserves, Ukrainian troops will eventually have to leave Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk). According to him, the situation there is unfolding similarly to the battles for Artyomovsk (Ukrainian name — Bakhmut), but under far more favorable conditions for Russian forces. He emphasized that the Russian army is no longer engaging in exhausting urban combat, opting for a different operational approach.
